Djerba is so much different from all other islands. Rich with thousands of years of history, this Mediterranean jewel has managed to create its own identity; an identity that is reflected in its monuments, traditions and way of life, making it an ideal candidate for UNESCO's World Heritage Status.

In order to preserve its heritage and the monuments that render it unique (underground mosques, souks, menzels, cathedral, churches, synagogue ...), the island of Djerba has officially submitted its candidacy for inclusion on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
